Yes. IV therapy is appointment-only so we can reserve your chair, your RN, and the time it takes to compound your bag. Same-day appointments are usually available — book online or call us.
Yes — a fully-licensed urgent care like ContinuEM administers IV fluids daily, under the supervision of on-site emergency physicians. Not all urgent cares are set up for it; we are.
Yes. ContinuEM treats dehydration with IV fluids as part of a same-day urgent care visit. If your dehydration is from a clinical cause (GI illness, food poisoning, heat exhaustion), the visit may be billable to your insurance — we'll tell you the moment we evaluate you.
30–45 minutes for the infusion itself. About an hour total, including check-in and bag prep.
Hydration effects are immediate — most patients feel meaningfully better within 20 minutes. The hydration itself typically holds for 24–48 hours, depending on what caused the dehydration.
Oral hydration packets help, but absorption peaks at ~60% over a couple of hours. IV delivers 100% bioavailability in 30 minutes — and we can add anti-nausea or pain medication if you can't keep anything down.
Wellness IV hydration is self-pay. IV fluids administered as part of an urgent care visit for a medical condition (severe dehydration, GI illness with vomiting, heat exhaustion) may be billable to insurance — we'll confirm before treatment.
We don't currently offer mobile IV. The trade-off: an in-clinic appointment in Lakewood is roughly half the cost of mobile delivery, and you have an MD on-site if anything more serious turns up.
If you're confused, fainting, have a racing heart, severe abdominal pain, vomiting blood, or signs of severe dehydration in a child or elderly person — go to the ER or call 911.
We value our Lakewood community and strive to build lasting relationships through exceptional care.
