Freddy Sotelo, MD

Founder and President

Dr. Sotelo has spent his career in emergency medicine, and most of it thinking about the part of it that happens outside a hospital. He has been an attending emergency physician at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center since 2010. For eight years he also served as medical director of a Southern California ambulance provider, responsible for the quality of care delivered by roughly 1,500 EMTs, 80 paramedics and 13 nurses across Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.

That work is the reason ContinuEM exists. He kept seeing the same thing from both ends: patients arriving at an emergency room because it was the only place open with the equipment to answer their question, then waiting hours for an answer that took twenty minutes to get. He founded ContinuEM in Lakewood in 2021 to put the equipment and the training somewhere a person could simply walk in.

Direct all functions relating to medical quality and care for this ambulance provider that services Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties.
Coordinate medical quality and preparedness for a staff of 1,500 EMTs, 80 medics, and 13 RNs in providing care for non-911 services.
Secured a contract with the LA County EMS and Fire Medical Directors to provide ALS services; significantly increased the company’s market share in Eastern LA County.
